Overview

The cantonment general hospital in Khadki was established in 1914. A maternity ward with 6 beds was added in 1930. In 1947 a 16 bedded male ward was added. In 1957 a 75 bedded hospital with 25 maternity beds, 20 bedded female ward and 30 bedded male ward. Operation theatre was added in 1969. A new OPD building, X-Ray and Laboratory was inaugurated in 1977. In 1978 the hospital was renamed Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Cantonment General Hospital.

In 1989 the new hospital building with 3 wards (75 beds) with semi-private side rooms, an office complex, Laboratory, X-Ray and an air-conditioned operation theatre complex was inaugurated in June.

100 bedded multi-disciplinary, non-dieted, general hospital. Provides out-patient and in patient treatment in medicine, surgery, gynaecology & obstetrics, paediatrics, orthopaedics, ENT & Ophthalmology.

Activities Carried Out: Major OTs are fully air-conditioned, equipped with OT tables, Shadowless lamp, Multi-para monitors, Anaesthesia workstation, Defibrillator and piped oxygen. Major surgeries are routinely carried out by Surgeons, Gynaecologist, Orthopedics, ENT and Ophthalmic surgeons. The hospital also provides laproscopic surgery in Gynaecology. Average number of major operations per month - 30 Average number of minor operations per month - 70

Dialysis unit

Equipped with Fresenius make dialysis machine (2), RO water plant (1), Renatron dialyzer reprocessor, Multi-para monitors, Defibrillator, Crash cart, Suction machine, Piped oxygen

The Dialysis unit was inaugurated on 23rd May 2016 jointly by Gen Bipin Rawat, GOC-in-C, SC and Shri Jojneshwar Sharma, PDDE, SC. The unit consists of 2 dialysis machines, 1 RO Water plant, 1 Dialyzer reprocessor and other equipment for patient monitoring and resuscitation such as multi-para monitors and defibrillator.The equipment cost as a whole was Rs 56 Lakhs and entirely borne fromSpecial Chief Minister funds received from Shri Prithviraj Chavan, former CM , Maharashtra. Presently there are 9 patient on dialysis and monthly 70 to 80 dialysis aredone by staff consisting of 2 dialysis technician, 1 Staff Nurse, 1 I/C Staff Nurse and 1 Doctor, under the supervision of Honorary Nephrologist, Dr Tushar Dighe, MD, DM(Nephro)



Emergency / Casualty

No. of Staff: - 4 Activities Carried Out: Fully equipped with Multi-para monitors, Defibrillator, Suction machine, Crash cart, Oxygen and 5 beds for detention of patients. Provides 24 hrs service.

Physiotherapy

Activities Carried Out:

The physiotherapy unit was inaugurated in August ‘93 and within a short time the department has become very popular with the patients. Under the supervision of an experienced physiotherapist, short wave diathermy, electric stimulation, cervical and lumbar traction, ultrasonic therapy are provided to the patients. Electronic cervical traction and a lumbar traction machines have also been made available.           

Dispensary

History: - Presently the hospital runs two dispensaries on all working days. Two dispensaries were added to cater to the medical needs of far areas of Sapras and Sangamwadi as East Khadki Dispensary and Sangamwadi Dispensary in 1976 and 1996 respectively. East Khadki Dispensary was designated as NUHM dispensary in 2014. Facilities: - Both dispensaries are equipped with life saving emergency equipment, Oxygen, IV Fluids, Bed for detention of patient.Medicine is provided free of charge.
